The 6th East Grinstead Rainbows is the latest addition to
the Guiding family here in town. Rainbows are the youngest
members of Girlguiding UK, age 5-7 years old. The group meets
for the first time on 20th Sept 2007, and already it is full
(15 girls) with a waiting list!
Playing games, making discoveries and laughing LOTS - Rainbows
do it all! For girls age 5-7 we provide a safe place to look,
learn, laugh and love with a whole bunch of new friends. Our
activity programme, the Rainbow Jigsaw, helps Rainbows to
grow and develop, whether making dreamcatchers or having their
first sleepover. Have a peek at what we do at www.girlguiding.org.uk/rainbows.
As part of Girlguiding UK, the largest organisation for girls
and young women in the UK with around 600,000 member, Rainbows
can move on with the great friends they have made to become
Brownies, Guides and beyond.
Once up and running, the group will be self-funding, with
income from subscriptions, Gift Aid and fundraising (eg via
www.easyfundraising.org.uk/6thegr).
As you will appreciate the initial outlay is large, with the
purchases of one off equipment and resources eg. balls, scissors,
storage boxes, first aid kit etc.
We will be holding a raffle and tombolas to raise funds.
If you can help us out by providing a prize we would be really
grateful. To find out more about volunteering with Rainbows
please phone Liz 01342 324110. To donate a raffle prize phone
Fiona 01342 322414 or email fionawatkins1981@yahoo.co.uk.
Thank you,
Fiona Watkins
